Attendees:

Dorothy Dawson opened the meeting at 1:05 p.m.

Old Business:
Dorothy reviewed new changes to national competitions:
- 7 & 8 year olds can compete all the way to nationals.
- 5000m for young men was changed to 3000m.
- the division “midget” could possibly get a name change.
- national youth committee wants coaches classes on hammer, shot, discus & javelin.
- Derrick Calhoun is the head coach for IAAF World Youth Team.

New Business:
- Coaches, if you’re not going to compete at the next level, please have your athlete participate as “exhibition”.
- Dorothy received an award at the national convention. She was chosen by the Hall of Fame Committee.

Committee Reports:
Race Walk – Diane Graham-Henry
- held the USATF Illinois 5000m Race Walk competition at Proviso East HS on April 23, 2011. There were 17 participates (2 youths and 15 adults).
- planning a two day clinic (June 4 & 5).

Youth – Marc Jones
- Master, Open & Youth state championships will be a combined event. Masters and Open will be contested on Friday morning. Youth with start Friday afternoon and run through Sunday. All will be contested at Plainfield Central High School in Plainfield, IL., June 24-26.
- Region 7 Championship will be contested at Plainfield Central High School, July 7-10.
- Committed volunteers are needed.
